Cenni storici

Il nucleo più antico viene edificato sui resti di un basamento medievale andato perduto per via di un incendio. Nel corso dei secoli è caserma per i soldati dei Reggimenti di Aosta e Susa nel 1794, ma anche ospedale nel 1798 per le truppe francesi e austriache. Importanti ampliamenti avvengono nel 1906 con l’erezione di una nuova ala.

Al piano terra, nella Sala del Consiglio, la volta è affrescata con scene arcadiche del pittore Federico Siffredi (1861 – 1920). L’Unione dei Comuni Montani della Val Sangone (ex Comunità Montana) vi ha sede fin dal suo insediamento nel 1973. Nel 1989 ha provveduto ad acquistare la Villa e a interessarla con lavori di restauro.

Note

Deve il suo nome ad Antonio Maritano, detto “della Favorita”, padrone della villa nel XIX secolo.

Historical notes

The oldest nucleus is built on the remains of a medieval plinth lost due to a fire. Over the centuries it has been barracks for soldiers of the Regiments of Aosta and Susa in 1794, but also a hospital in 1798 for French and Austrian troops. Major expansions took place in 1906 with the erection of a new ala.

On the ground floor, in the Council Hall, the vault is frescoed with arcadian scenes by the painter Federico Siffredi (1861–1920). The Val Sangone Town Halls Mountain Union (formerly the Mountain Community) has been based there since its establishment in 1973. In 1989 she bought the Villa and started restoration work.
